ABSTRACT


Hypnosis, as a therapeutic tool, offers the Nursing Professional a different understanding of the processes suffered by oncological patients and their families; thereby permitting a more effective intervention in the different areas of patient care. This paper reviews the application of clinical hypnosis in the different areas of clinical management of the cancer patient; as much in the approach of the effects caused by the illness itself, as for its side effects of cancer treatment; coping with emotions and emotiona/ symptoms, pain relief, its effect on cost reduction, and fina/ly hypnosis and nursing.
