Main Article Content
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The objective is to analyze integral pain management in burned children with dressing changes. The methodology used is a systematic literature review from the COCHRANE, MEDLINE, PUBMED, PROQUEST and LILACS databases. Dressing changes in burned children is a procedure that involves pain, anxiety and suffering. If it is not handled well, it can produce post traumatic stress and longer rehabilitation periods, as it often entails extreme acute pain. The care of burned children with dressing changes begins with a complete and integral assessment of 3 main aspects: self assessment, behaviour and physical evaluation. These should be adapted to the child's age and verbal communication skills. Subsequently, an integral intervention is planned, in which emphasis is placed on pharmacological, cognitive, behavioural, psychological and physical dimensions. This approach allows for the child to "heal from the inside". Conclusion: Nursing care has a key role in integral pain management of burned children with dressing changes , through the inclusion of assessment tools that improve evaluation, adequate and opportune treatment, and the alleviation of suffering produced by acute pain.
