Abstract

ABSTRACT

The current article analyzes the case study of a 47 year old male patient with a diagnosis of Schizophrenic Disorder, who has been re- hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital due to poor response to the elected treatment. A slow evolution was observed, with a progressive and marked deterioration in the quality of both familial and social life, a lack of pharmacological response and because each hospital stay was longer than the last, it became more and more difficult for the patient to achieve good adherence to treatment. Through observations of the marked symptoms dealing with the patient's state of mind, as well as the disabling psychotic symptoms during periods of crisis, interviews with the patient, and a review of the existing literature, an attempt was made to describe psychiatric suffering, and understand the real internal suffering experienced by an individual with mental illness. Key Words: Schizophrenic Disorder, Psychiatric suffering
