Self-efficacy and its impact on the lifestyle of the people with diabetes

Abstract
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus [DU)I represents a public health issue due to its epidemiological impact. Most research shows a trend in the medical paradigm, a situation which implies fairly unexplored aspects in the science of caring. This article was done using the theoretical perspective of the Health Promotion Model, personal factors, perceived self-efficacy, and lifestyle ofpeople with DM2. Aim: to determine whether lifestyle ofpeople with DM2 is influenced by factors that are biologicallpersonal, socio-cultural, psychological, and perceived self-efficacy. Methodology: correlation design. Simple random sampling. Sampling determined with 80% statistic power; 95% reliability level, effect size r = .25, n — 138. Outcomes: the personal factors showed an effect on the lifestyle of the PDM2 (F 4.730 p - .001 82 34.1) The perceived self-efficacy showed an effect on the lifestyle of the PDM2 (F cal, = 22.398 p - .001 R = 34.1) Discussion and Conclusions: the results confirmed relationships between the concepts of the MPS: personal factors, perceived self-efficacy and the lifestyle of the PDM2; the fatter may respond positively with actions for its control with the healthcare professional, if conditions are proposed to help improve their health situation, and prevent or delay complications of the illness. This knowledge will serve to establish real agreements between the PDM2's and nurses
