Abstract

With the purpose of improving and endorsing a fall prevention protocol currently in use and considering that patient falls are a real occurrence, the group "Clinical Guides", together with the "Prevention of Patient Falls" group, developed a new protocol validated with scientific evidence and oriented to the detection of risk factors related to specific interventions for fall prevention. For its development, a group was formed which adapted a clinical guide to the reality of the institution, and this then served as the basis for the redesigning of the protocol. The objective of this protocol is to reduce the risk of undergoing a fall and the consequences of this among hospitalized patients in the Clinica Alemana. lt also aims to design an instrument that Will be validated and applicable to all hospitalized units, to standardize the use of prevention and containment measures of fa/ls and to include education as a relevant factor in the involvement of patients and families in their cares.
